I've got a feeling, and i may be wrong but doesn't it optomise (Defrag) the hard drive, to reclaim spaces from deleted programs and therfore make future records run consecutivley?

Thinking of getting a Tivo box & having the V+ box moved upstairs. Both my wife & I have got that use to noise from the V+ box that it does'nt bother us.

I didn't think it did that automatically. I'm sure I've read postings on here from folk asking how to defrag their drives

It doesn't defrag at all. Fragmentation isn't a problem on PVRs in general.
