The wiper motor normally has a microswitch unit attached to it, the units can sometimes become loose or wears out. It's that microswitch that keeps power to the wiper until it gets to it's home position.
My neighbours' Fabia did the same thing... it was a very stiff mechanism under the bonnet that was stopping it... WD40 all over the mechanism sorted it.
