Alan. Why don't you do some research yourself before making false statements.

To drive from my house to Palma would take two days, with two ferries, and is 942 miles. This would cost £196 in fuel, as well as the ferry to France at £29. And then £211 euros for the Barcelona to Palma ferry.

By coach would cost a fortune, with loads of changes.

You still need food and accommodation, not to mention treatment for blisters, as well as two ferries (which cost more than a flight).

There is no direct bus or coach. So you can look that up yourself.

As for hitch hiking, you still need food, accommodation, and ferry fares.

Your argument doesn't add up Alan

Didn't anyone tell you that you have to pay for the channel tunnel or a ferry?

As for hitch hiking a boat, you are just being stupid. Anyone who just took a stranger to another country could risk landing themselves in serious trouble. So most people wouldn't take the risk.

If you want to know what it costs by coach, then do the research your self. Why should anyone else do the research for you when it is quite obvious that you are wrong?

It doesn't take much intelligence to realise that it would cost far more than a budget airline.

Ferry price - £35 each way

Channel Tunnel - you need to buy a train ticket (cheapest return London - Brussels was about £100 return, but you still have to travel from Brussels to Barcelona/Majorca) or be a passenger in a car.

Hitchhike a boat - illegal

Coach London - Barcelona
Quote:
In fact the buses to Barcelona from London are extremely limited, with one National Express bus leaving Victoria Coach Station every Friday, with a transfer in Lyon; the entire journey is a bone crunching 29+ hours!

As an example I ran a search for one adult travelling from London Victoria to Barcelona leaving three weeks from today – 29 January 2009 – booking through the National Express website. The price – a whopping £85 for a single or £126 for an open dated return compares against £58 single on EasyJet or £159 returning on Sunday afternoon, the most expensive time to return after the weekend.
So, it's more expensive and takes much longer to travel by coach.

Your travel plans make as much sense as your political or economic ones - not based on reality, but unwilling to accept facts that show otherwise......

Re: Ryanair Censured

Alan, Do you have any concept of the price of petrol, price of train/ferry crossings, or have actually ever travelled on these modes of transport to realise they take a lot of time.
Time is money and if you can do a journey without eating or sleeping so dont need a hotel then you must honestly be a machine.
It is dangerous to drive without a proper nights sleep or not eating.

You then talk about hitch hiking. Unless you are with friends, who in this modern world do you think is going to stop to pick you up by the side of the road?
There have been enough cases of people being assaulted or whatever else to know that people dont just pick up passengers any more.

You may be able to walk from Dover to Scottland and yes it is feasible but would you do it? Would you not spend any money on food or stop for rest and a nights sleep?
YES you would.

It is simple: You can travel further by plane at a much cheaper cost.
And I will feel a lot safer travelling Ryanair than in the back of someones car that I don't even know.

He actually seems to have very little concept of reality at all.

His posts on this thread have proved that much of what he says is either lies or fantasy. He has previously claimed to be in senior management in a huge logistics company. So in theory transport is one of the things he should know about, but doesn't.

Anyway Alan is suspended yet again, so he won't be able to answer

I think the conclusion to this thread is that budget airlines are the cheapest way to travel, and even often give a better service that the more expensive airlines like BA. So it is a case of find out which airlines fly to the destination that you want to travel to. And from your local airport (not Alan's super airport ). And then compare them to each other.
