Fake rape victim jailed
Quote:
A "serial liar" who made a series of bogus sexual assault allegations against 15 men has been jailed.
Jemma Beale falsely claimed she was raped by nine men and sexually assaulted by six, all strangers, in four encounters spanning three years.
One allegation led to the conviction of a man who was jailed for seven years.

How many lives and families has this woman ruined I wonder. She fully deserves the 10 years I reckon. If we're rightly going to have zero tolerance of rape we need to have zero tolerance of those who make false claims such as these.

Re: Fake rape victim jailed
What a sad excuse for a human being. The damage she has done could effect these men and other women for a long time. I can only hope she comes to regret her actions and receives the help she needs to deal with life once she is released.

She's still protesting her innocence, even now she's been exposed and locked up. She's a sick fantasist, and if she doesn't get help, as soon as she's released she will be at it again.

Re: Fake rape victim jailed
I can think of nothing more disgusting than to make up the fact that you have been raped. I do feel that anyone who does this needs help as obviously something is very wrong with them, I do hope that she gets the help she so obviously needs while serving her prison sentence.
I can only imagine that to be accused of rape must be a man's worst nightmare. To be accused of such an awful crime and I bet these poor men had many thoughts and emotions when questioned, fear, what a nightmare, how did this happen, why accuse me. Then they must have thought that once the police get their evidence and have all the facts such as DNA they will see that I'm innocent.
What is bothering me as a wife and Mother of two son's is how did the police ever manage to convict with no DNA evidence, what proof did they go on?
I do believe that questions need to be answered about the handling of her false allegations and hopefully lessons will be learned with the hope it does not cause delay with real victims of rape.
I do hope the man who was jailed gets some sort of compensation but sadly no amount will ever be enough IMO for the time he has lost not to mention what he has went through, plus I suspect his fellow inmates were not to nice to him given that he was he convicted of rape as many inmates will have wife's, daughters, sister's and of course Mother's.

Re: Fake rape victim jailed
Perhaps the police were rather too keen to believe everything she said whilst disbelieving what all her victims were telling them. Will any lessons be learned?

Wouldn't ride that into battle....
On a more serious note, perhaps this demonstrates more evidence of why anonymity for both accused and accuser is required prior to the outcome of a trial.

I've always thought a good solution would be default anonymity for the accused unless a judge rules it in the public interest to release their name for cases such as Rolf Harris or Saville where someone is largely prosecuted in the testimony of many people. I.E There is a suggestion someone has abused a position of authority to groom/rape people.

She is ugly on the inside and out but rape isn't about being attracted to someone, that said her claims were like something out of the inbetweeners, when the liar was telling a story about another pupil getting the head stuck in a bottle bank and being bum raped 18 times. I wonder what lessons the authorities will claim to have learnt from this whole sorry episode

Well, quite. I thought the burden of proof lay with the prosecution and a conviction would be based on the principle of there being no reasonable doubt of guilt.
Since when did it all boil down to one person's word against that of another? Anyone can say anything - that doesn't make it true.
If I was accused of something when I was 60 miles away at the time and could prove it, I would still worry that the court would find me guilty because it seems they no longer accept hard evidence when minds are made up.
I have no faith in our system of justice any more.

Re: Fake rape victim jailed
Another male victim of unfounded rape allegations. This time he suffered on bail for 2 years before the police were finally forced to hand over the evidence which cleared him.
Quote:
he Met Police is to hold an "urgent" review of a rape case after being accused of failing to disclose vital evidence.
Liam Allan, 22, was charged with 12 counts of rape and sexual assault but his trial collapsed after police were ordered to hand over phone records...
It is understood police had looked at thousands of phone messages when reviewing evidence in the case, but had failed to disclose to the prosecution and defence teams messages between the complainant and her friends which cast doubt on the allegations against Mr Allan...

What sort of country are we living in when those we rely on for justice are so fixated on securing convictions for sexual assaults that stuff like vital evidence is 'overlooked'?...

It's crazy, they're meant to release everything so the defence has a chance.

Re: Fake rape victim jailed
And yet people are still prepared to declare guilt of anyone in power just because of accusations.
Not saying they are innocent but let the investigation prove it.

Re: Fake rape victim jailed
It's the social justice police force.
i think this case is so serious nothing less than jail for the offending detectives is needed, this **** can't be allowed to happen.

... and what about the unnamed 'victim' who clearly allowed all this to happen?
He and his loved ones have lived through 2 years of hell and we don't even know who she is. Presumably had he been tried and found guilty as seems likely he'd have been wrongly banged up for 10 years. This isn't justice or equality, it's totally outrageous.
