Re: Rogue dialler on braodband
If you left the UK on holiday, can you not show your passport with the date stamps on it of the visiting country?
PS: You don't have an old SKY box connected to your phone line, as these can dial out?

Re: Have you been charged for premium calls that you didnt make?
Had this a while ago, quite a few people were "done" in the Scunthorpe area !!!
Some like you, whilst they were out of the country.....CS told myself and the others that WE DID make the calls, which were to a porn line !!!!! (my friends 70 yr old mother wasn't too happy about being accused of that lol ) Most of the calls were just for £1.50 at a time, and were listed as FIXED FEE CALL, so most people didn't even think anything of it at start, until I kicked off. Do a search, and see if the number comes up on google etc.....
Eventually got in touch with the local paper, who got in touch with the Executives office at Virgin, and we all ended up having FREE premium rate call barring added to our accounts.I also got hold of trading standards who were very interested about it too.
As far as I am aware, they were investigating it further with their fraud dept because is was a much larger problem than they had originally thought, and couldn't give out too many details because they didn't want the people doing the scam, knowing that virgin were onto them etc etc
So, do like I did and just mention it around friends/family and see if anyone else has been done. If so, phone your local paper and trading standards and let them sort it.

haha sound like classic fob off to me.
Eyeofthetiger were all these calls while you were on holiday (ie none before and/or none afterwards) and were they all premium rate numbers?

It was not a fob off as we found a number of customers had the same number on the bill.Steps were taken in the back ground to find out how this was done.We had a lot in Scunthorpe and even our test lines had the number on it and they are hardley used.Steps were taken and we have not seen this for some time

Did have this problem last year. Phoned VM (Then NTL) and they sorted it out straight away without any hassle.

yes all calls whilst on holiday, none before and after. it was only one number that appeared on bill (they wont issue me a copy of the bill as it hasnt been printed and breaks data protection). they have been so rude accusing me of all sorts. they have veen admitted the calls looks dodgy!

Re: Rogue dialler on braodband
no sky box and have flight tickets to prove but they are saying i could have given the house key to anyone, which is fair comment. i am sending a 4 page complaint letter with the flight tickets included.

If no one else has a set of keys, ask Virgin if you should contact the police as Virgin are stating that someone inside your property made these calls, and therefore they must have broken in, but failed to take any of your property.

The telephone numbers you called (whilst on holiday) are these voice or data numbers? As a modem would hang up after around 1 minute if it doesn't get another modem/computer at the other end.

It's your account, they are charging you, and yet they won't let you see the proof

I've merged the two separate threads on this since they are essentially discussing the same thing.
@ eyeofthetiger, have you spoken to someone senior, i.e. manager level in Virgin Media, or are you just getting the run around from Customer Services. You really need to ask them to get their fraud people involved.
