Always possible, I guess, especially considering how restrictive their old ADSL2+ service used to be, I still wonder why they've suddenly gone from severely restricted, to "almost" unlimited.

Only a few months ago they turned their service into a truely unlimited package, with P2P restrictions in the evening, so i dont think they would do that anytime soon.

Re: BT Infinity 80Mb

My estimate was 54mb, my modem says 87mb.

The estimates are such a huge underestimate I bet it's only to cover their own asses under the GEA guarantee.

Re: BT Infinity 80Mb

If you don't already get the full 40mb now you will see no difference, as your line would have already been operating at the new speeds since last year. The recent change lifts the 40mb cap to 80mb, but the actual line rate/sync rate improvements were put in place towards the end of last year.

Mind you, you will do get double the guaranteed minimum speed when you upgrade, so even if your top speed won't be any faster, your service at peak times might.

Re: BT Infinity 80Mb

No, I have the standard Openreach modem, unlocked to show line stats - http://huaweihg612hacking.files.word...tions_v1-3.pdf

(Also had an engineer round showing me his JDSU)

My upgrade is scheduled for Monday. Not sure if anyone else has got theirs yet, I believe some where scheduled for Fri. If anyone has, what SNR margin have you been set at?

Re: BT Infinity 80Mb

I see now why BT chose to supply a seperate router in addition to the VDSL modem - the modem's processor is too slow to run in router mode above 60mbps.

Where two or more results are presented for the same city, it's because there are multiple servers in said city. Results (and test) are arranged in alphabetical order of the server provider.

(Note the Manchester and Warwick servers are both actually in London)

Re: BT Infinity 80Mb

Also as I've said before, Speedtest.net (or rather, Ookla's) testing technology is pretty bad at measuring fast upload speeds, it's quite bursty, and leaves the line idle a good 20-50% of the time.
