AIWA TV passcode reset?
This question has just been posted on a trade related forum that I mod, a bit of of a long shot, any suggestions welcome.
Have an interesting request from an elderly priest having sorted out his frozen washing machine at the vicarage today.
The Aiwa VX G143 TV/VHS has been passed down to him from another priest who has passed away with his name and 4 digit code put in the unit? God has not come forward with the missing four digit code to put in the unit to get it to work?
Has anybody got an idea how to bypass the code and get the TV working again as Aiwa no longer are in business and cannot find anything on the internet to make his day.
Jim.

Re: AIWA TV passcode reset?
try this
http://www.howtomendit.com/answers.php?id=62061
Also found the service manual if thats any good to you.
Also this info
AIWA VX-G143 To join the service disconnect from the network for 3-5 minutes.
- TV is turned on and set the sound to the minimum.
- Click once and hold more than 2 seconds VOL-on TV and 9 on the remote.
- TV went to "Adjustment mode".
Also this from elsewhere
To reset the pin code
Enter wrong no 3 x, then press Vol- on set & "7" on R/C for 5 secs when "protected" appears.
Another similar procedure for another model:
Unplug set for 1 hour plus. reduce volume to minimum. simultaneously press Volume down on unit and "7" to reset pin code and customer ID.
Good luck & I hope some of the info is of use as I cant find anything else although there probably is.

Re: AIWA TV passcode reset?
Thanks for the reply, I did have a look at some other similar service manuals, none of them give details of how to reset the passcode if you don't know the existing one though.
Also I don't think that leaving the TV unplugged for half an hour is likely to clear it either.
I'm guessing there must be a small internal battery to keep the memory chip energised, something similar to a CMOS one.
Looking at the date of those posts this must be quite an old piece of equipment by now.
EDIT. Will pass on the info about wrong number 3 times etc.
Thanks again, I will report back.

Re: AIWA TV passcode reset?
Unplug set for 1 hour plus. reduce volume to minimum. simultaneously press Volume down on unit and "7" to reset pin code and customer ID.
Just to put this to bed, I can confirm that the method above did the trick.
Thanks once again.

Re: AIWA TV passcode reset?
I didn't post the full text of the post from our forum at ukwhitegoods, someone had actually told the lad who posted the thread that the reset code was 6666.
We both agreed this someone was attempting to extract the Michael.
