Transferring number from BT

Hello Folks!

Been away for a while but ive just resigned up to virgin. I have requested that our old number gets ported over from BT.
Ive been give 2 stories...

1. I don't need to contact BT, virgin will contact BT and once the number has been ported BT will send a final bill end of story.

2. I have to ring BT to cancel and get passed from call centre to call centre

Does anyone if im ok to just go with the first one??

Cheers

DJ

Re: Transferring number from BT

When I moved from VM to BT several years ago, option 1 was the story, the number was transferred but not without problems (caused by BT) but several years later here we still are

Re: Transferring number from BT

I've just transferred my number from BT to Virgin without mishap - and they very definitely told me *not* to contact BT. Virgin do it all ...

Re: Transferring number from BT

Agreed -don't contact BT - you will likely lose the number if you cancel. The 'gaining' Telco has the responsibility to contact the 'losing' one when a number ports from one to the other.
