The FAQ doesn't actually say how the data will be used though. As far as I can see the FAQ makes no mention of practical applications of the data collected whatsoever, e.g. Youview has a partition in the PVR HDD for push content. Will the data be used for push content? Will this be towards individuals? Or targeted at groups? Or just the same for everyone?

Yes it does:

To me that reads as a generalisation of what they may do with the data.

They wouldn't say because they probably aren't sure themselves yet how they would use the data until the platform is up and running and has a decent userbase.
