Q re installation (tomorrow!)

Hi,

I'm having triple-XL installation tomorrow morning, with TiVo. We'll want the TV cable to run into the ground floor lounge - no probs there. However, we're having the house renovated at the moment and for at least the next two months we will continue to be living in one room at the top of the house! We'd really like to be able to use the Tivo that we're paying for, whilst the renovation is ongoing. (If you're wondering, we booked the installation for during the renovation as we need the broadband now - and so that we could run cables under floors, etc before they're laid.)

Do you think the installer would be willing to run a separate (or temp) cable up to the room we're living in now? ie he'd do the install and check all is ok downstairs, but could then unplug the box and move it up to our temporary 'home'.

We aren't planning on having two boxes when the work is finished, so can't approach it that way. Nor do we want to only install it in the upstairs room (where we're only going to be for a couple of months) and then have to pay another installation/call-out fee to get them to come and move it downstairs at a later date (which at any rate wouldn't work as we want the installation in the lounge before the floor, decorating, etc gets done). Sorry, repeating myself now a bit I think. Any thoughts gratefully received!

Re: Q re installation (tomorrow!)

Hi and welcome.

I can't say for certain but it's worth asking the engineer, he can only say yes or no.

Can I ask as you seem to be a new customer how you managed to get TiVo installed? Were you a series 1 owner?

Re: Q re installation (tomorrow!)

Thanks - yes, I had an old series 1 so signed up to their offer. Got rung in the first week of calls, but there was some construction work that needed to happen before my installation.
