Audio connections

Currently have SA V+ and have no complaints or wish-list so far as features/functionality goes. The box we have is several years old, and I suspect starting to show its age occasionally (developing a habit of rebooting randomly while watching OnDemand). Once I've copied all the recorded programs off to DVD, we'll be able to go down the faults route if it gets any worse, however...

We use the Audio Out sockets on the back, to send TV audio straight into our home cinema amplifier. From what I can see, the newer Samsung V+ & the TiVO, both lack this connection. In which case, we're snookered - and more than a little annoyed.

Can someone confirm/deny my theory? Thanks.

Re: Audio connections

Not entirely snookered. The Tivo has optical output (it's unlikely you'll be given a V+ HD since they're being phased out). Depending on the inputs to your nhome cinema amplifier there a different converters available. If you could post a model number for your HT I, and probably a number of other people, will check for options

Re: Audio connections

You would get a Samsung V+ as a replacement for a faulty V+. You can take audio from the VCR SCART socket, using an adaptor like this

I'm using a Denon AVR-1906.. will start digging into options myself too. Am so far using DVD, tape, CD, and TV (V+) inputs. So there are spares.

Thanks in the meantime.. quite amusing, we used to have a Scart > Phono adapter on an old V Box several years ago. Losing the connection with a box replacement was one of the reasons for getting the SA V+ at the time.

Re: Audio connections

One option would be to use a SCART adapter with left/right audio breakout:

http://cpc.farnell.com/pro-signal/ps...out/dp/AV14610

That's only really needed if you are currently using both SCART ports currently, otherwise you can use the adapter that spiderplant suggested in the VCR SCART port since on the Samsung V+ both outputs are identical.

Another option will be to use the optical S/PDIF connection that both the Samsung V+ and Denon AVR-1906 have in common.

Do you put your video through the amplifier also? The Samsung V+ doesn't have the red/green/blue Component connections that the SA V+ has.

Re: Audio connections

It would appear that your receiver has optical in, have a look here;
