cable question

im having 2 tivo boxes fitted one in living room one in the bedroom and am having my V+ box moved into the spare bedroom.

i already have my modem in the spare bedroom but want this in the living room,is it the same cable for a modem as it is for the v+ box,if its not the cable is routed through a cudboard and would be a pain clearing it all out,if it is will make it easier to just use the modem cable thats already there and just have a new short cable in living room.
