If I was to get an external router?

Any ideas what the best one would be? upto a max of around £100 from Amazon I already have the RT-N56U but use the hub3. the wifi is pretty good and can't complain over the router or the signal I just wondered if a newer router would benefit me any better.

Gaming, surfing, streaming and I use both Ethernet and wifi

Re: If I was to get an external router?

If you've no complaints and it does what you require why bother?

If it ain't broke, don't try to fix it.

Re: If I was to get an external router?

Got to agree with the above seeing as you have an Asus unit already but if you really want to upgrade then after a quick search on Amazon as requested..

RT-N66U £79.95 > https://www.amazon.co.uk/ASUS-RT-N66...ds=asus+router

RT-N66W £74.99 > https://www.amazon.co.uk/ASUS-RT-N66...ds=asus+router

RT-AC1200G £76.88 > https://www.amazon.co.uk/ASUS-RT-AC1...%2Brouter&th=1

RT-AC55U £63.99 - https://www.amazon.co.uk/ASUS-RT-AC5...ds=asus+router

RT-AC51U £39.99 > https://www.amazon.co.uk/ASUS-RT-AC1...%2Brouter&th=1

Re: If I was to get an external router?

I've had the RT-N66U since launch and paid around £250ish, well worth the cost and still going strong.

My only question is when I get the SH3 as I'm getting 200meg, will it be better to put it into modem mode (assuming it can do that), or keep my trusty Rt-N66U?

I've got an Amazon gift voucher when I swapped mobile contracts there isn't much I want at the moment and thought maybe an external modem would improve things a bit not that I can complain.

I'm not entirely sure but it is an AC unit. Comparing it could result in a non AC device out doing it. Asus units are rock.

I thought SH3 currently had a firmware problem in modem mode. Hourly dropouts or something?

Re: If I was to get an external router?

What is combo mode?

I'm in the process of chasing my upgrade to 200meg, and getting the SH3 delivered for self install
