Teaming two connections

So, I've temporarily still got my VM retail 200Mb connection for a few days, and just got my fresh install of VM Business (it was more cost efficient for me to take the entry business offering than what VM Retentions offered).

Anyway, using pfsense I was able to team both my connections. The result is fairly impressive for a home connection!!

So both hubs (Hub 3 and CGNV4) are in modem mode. My pfSense box is a J1900 Celeron with 4 LAN ports (so fairly low-powered, nothing beefy) - 2 of the NICs were setup as WAN interfaces and configured as a gateway.

Happy to take any questions whilst I still have this setup!

Re: Teaming two connections

Presumably just load balancing though, so not true bonding, as that would require them bonding at both ends.
(so you wont get those speeds on any individual connection to a site, only if you have multiple, balanced, connections).

(I do the same with my Sky & VM connections when the need arises).

Yes - only load balancing! It's nice to see the numbers but in the real world it doesn't quite work like that. Although it's nice to see my area is able to cope with it!
