I don't want the lobster

..... but a batter phone.

It looks as though the Lobster 575 is a bit to basic for my needs. I have bluetooth hands free in the car but it looks like the lobster doesn't have bluetooth.

On the Virgin blurb from various outlets it prices the Lobster at 69.99 but for an extra 20 or 30 squids I could get a handset that would equal what I have now and for 40 extra squids a much better one.

Does anyone know if you can upgrade and pay the extra. If so ee'll plaice an order.

Can't get through to Virgin to ask ..... their chip shop counter is always busy. Cod anyone help.

Re: I don't want the lobster

You can buy any other phone - the price is as PAYG pricing.
Alternatively to calling them - try emailing them on the website.

Kiddie phone for oldies ????

Further to my posting a bit down the page regarding the Lobster 575 phone I have recieved a reply to my e-mail to Virgin in which I enquired as to the prospect of paying for an upgrade to a more 'adult' friendly handset .

As a responsible 'adult' my requirements are at the very least the phone should be bluetooth enabled to be compatible with the 2 cars that we have both of which are equipped with 'blutooth hands free installations.

The lobster is 'without'. It is also without tri or quad band facility. Now I know that these features are normally found on more expensive handsets and I would be more than willing to pay any addional money for the upgrade......

BUT the normally 'VERSATILE VIRGINS' say they cannot help. You can either have the lobster or go without.

Perhaps the've got a surplus of these (given the spec I'm not surprised) or perhaps now they are part of the NTL 'family' all customer service, customer need, customer satisfaction is likely to be a thing of the past.

Re: I don't want the lobster

Why not just get the sim and buy a better phone or use the ones you all ready have?

Re: I don't want the lobster

Isn't it human nature to weigh up the total value of the package being offered (its not often that existing customers get the opportunity for 'special' deals). Having been a customer of sky from their day one analogue launch to 3 years ago and of ntl since then it is very plain that the vast majority of incentives and deals are directed at enticing new subscribers.

When I recieved this 'very special offer' to 'valued customers' I though whoooo! something for us for the first time. But no.... It would have been nice, if the offered phone (valued at £69.99 in the argos book) could have been upgraded to a better handset with an additional charge but with some consideration of credit for the lobster not being taken.

I would have been happy to pay an addional sum but not to have to pay full street price to get the better phone when the lobster was included in the 'special deal'.

Now don't get me wrong ..... I think that the £10 pm for 300+300 deal is still pretty good but the overall package is spoilt by the limitations of the handset and the non availability of an upgrade whilst still taking acount of the overall deal benefit. Apart from phones for 'kiddies' tri/quad band and bluetooth facilities are becoming more and more standard. So come on Virgin/ntl:Telewest lets have a a sensible approach to this issue.

All I want is a phone to do what I need without having to buy a full price handset. (does anyone know people who buy the handsets these days at the full prices) These prices are often only quoted as rrp £*** to indicate some relative value when you sign up for a deal inc. FREE phone.

The other option is to pop into your local Virgin Store and buy a PAYG phone - changing over the SIM card

Re: I don't want the lobster

Don't quote me on this but I am using a Virgin sim in a vodaphone, I suspect that they use the same network, as the phone is locked for all the others, although I don't know this for certain

Re: I don't want the lobster

If it helps Virgin Stores often have reconditioned phones at half price, I know a couple of people that have these and they look brand new.
