Virgin Media Installation and Internet Speeds

I have just signed up with Virgin Media but have an install date in a couple of weeks. However, reading on numerous forums the service seems to be having several problems following speed increases. It reminds me of initial problems of Broadband and traffic management which cripples the service.

I'm in two minds whether to cancel before installation and look at other options such as digital region for faster broadband. I would be interested in any advice as to whether to go ahead or cancel.

I'm currently with O2 and get a 6mb but stable connection with no problems for my Broadband. The potential speed increase with Virgin was the main thing I was interested in - should I just look elsewhere ie digital region?

Thanks in advance,

Kevin

No, virgin is usually fine, you have a 28 day happiness garuntee where you can cancel after install so there is no risk

Re: Virgin Media Installation and Internet Speeds

the traffic management is ok unless someone is a heavy down loader "freak" but it de pence the package...for example the 100mb has got 12000 MB the evening...thats about 3 HD movies if i am not mistaken

about the increasing speeds dont worry too much...in most cases a new modem or adjust of power levels or simple reboot fix the problem...but remember in forums are always problems...same for O2 forum or any other

like is been mentioned post up you have also 28 days at no risk so go ahead...

Re: Virgin Media Installation and Internet Speeds

I'd imagine that even if you did experience problems, the speed would be greater than 6mbps. It all really comes down to the nature of the network in your area.

Some customers are very happy with the speeds they get!

Just in case you ever need to quote it, this is from the VM website:
Quote:
Money back guarantee: The 28-day money back guarantee is available for new cable customers and existing cable customers taking a new service. Call us within 28 days of service activation to cancel and we'll refund the first month's charge and any installation charge. You will only be charged for transactions (calls, texts, purchases, service upgrades) occurring after activation. Statutory rights not affected.
