TV's are getting bigger: How big is yours?

The average size of a TV in 2014 was 39", up from the 2013 average of 37.5"

How big is your primary set? Are those upgrading opting for a bigger screen?

Mine is 40 inch, and, TBH, is fine for my living room.

32" CRT, keeping it old school until it breaks and I'm forced to upgrade

Re: TV's are getting bigger: How big is yours?

42", that's the recommended size for my living room, so when it dies I won't go for anything bigger, I'm happy with it (Panasonic Plasma), it's only a few years old.

42" and won't go any bigger. Nothing worse than seeing a 50"+ TV in a small / medium sized room.

Re: TV's are getting bigger: How big is yours?

Mine's a 32" and I bought it when I moved in. All of the "smart" workload is handled by the Bluray player and satellite reciever, so the TV itself is only really a monitor.

Re: TV's are getting bigger: How big is yours?

The poll needs tweaking

If you've got a 35" or 40" TV, there are actually two valid answers in the poll

If you've got a 46" to 49" TV, there is no valid answer

Re: TV's are getting bigger: How big is yours?

A family near us just bought a 50" smart TV. I know because the box it came in was leant against their front wall for days like an advert to thieves. Now they advertise it by watching it with the curtains wide open.

I living room is home to a 32" I saved 10 months for.

Re: TV's are getting bigger: How big is yours?

We have a 32" TV as we have a tapered sitting room corner which won't allow for a bigger one.

Re: TV's are getting bigger: How big is yours?

Just this weekend got a new 40" to replace the old 32" which died after 7 years, had been playing up for a while now so was not totally unexpected.

Looks rather large at the moment, but it fits in pretty much the same space as the old one due to having a very narrow bezel and no speaker grills along the bottom.

I need a bigger one say 50 incher because the old eye sight is getting worse - either that or a pair of binoculars to read whats on.

Re: TV's are getting bigger: How big is yours?

We went for 42" 1080P last year as we both have eyesight that's not getting any clearer. It fits comfortably in the bay window. Viewing distance about 12 feet.

Replaced a 28" 4:3 CRT.

Re: TV's are getting bigger: How big is yours?

We have a 23ft X 20ft sitting room so opted for a 48" smart TV which allows us to sit where we want and still see the screen in all its glory. (As it is over the 40" - 45" selection I voted in the higher section ... does this amount to bragging )

The box looked massive so was glad when the delivery guy took it away with him. Oh and it's the first TV that we have had to install with a brace to stop it being pulled over by a toddler.

Re: TV's are getting bigger: How big is yours?

42" Toshiba LCD, 7 years old - big enough for now.

When my lad moves out, I may give it to him, and the replacement will probably be 48" - anything bigger would dominate the lounge too much.....
