ps3 to monitor problems
hi
i have a 23" ful hd packard bell computer monitor. resolution 1920x1080. it has a dvi input. i have a hdmi to dvi adapter wich i have conected to the dvi socket on the monitor. i have then conected up my ps3 with a hdmi cable. unfortunately i am getting an error message on the screen, saying "input not supported". i have messed around with the settings on the ps3, but the monitor won't display anything. however when i connected the audio, i get the audio. the monitor has recognised the input but just won't display it. please can someone help me asap. heres a link to the monitor btw.

Was the PS3 connected to a different display before? If so have you reset the settings?

Re: ps3 to monitor problems
yh it has, but wen the ps3 detects a hdmi cable it asks if u want to use the connection. you see i had my ps3 conected to the tv n monitor at the same time. i selected use the hdmi output, the monitor screen refreched but the same 'input not suported' meage came up.

Did you try using a lower setting for the picture? If you start at 576 it may work??

Re: ps3 to monitor problems
i cant get any picture at all and when you conect a hdmi conection it asks you what resolution you want to use. anyway my monitor is full hd 1080p, 1920x1080 so it should work on any mode..... but when you first set up the hdmi conection it asks you what resolution u want to use. could it have something to do with the fact that i am using a hdmi to dvi adapter, would a straight hdmit to dvi cable make a difrence?

if i get another converter, a dvi-vga, co basicaly im using a hdmi-dvi then dvi-vga, would that work?
can a hdmi signal be converted to vga and if it does what would the resolution be? thx

Re: ps3 to monitor problems
My lads smaller 19" hdtv stopped displaying his ps3 at all when moving it between his own 19" hdtv and the bigger 40" in the sitting room.He was trying both his hdmi lead and his hdmi>dvi to no avail.
Sticking the TV on first then pressing and holding the ps3 power button for about 5-10 seconds did the job though. It auto recognised the TV again and adjusted the settings accordingly.
