Keep It Country want a cut of the licence fee.

http://www.theirishworld.com/give-us...-country-boss/

Wonder if this means they're struggling? They've already decided to cut down the amount of country music and rebrand the channel as Spotlight TV.

Relative newcomer Total Country is on Virgin Media, but the longer established Keep It Country isn't.

The owner has previously said that his channel gets more viewers than Sky Sports during an important football match and said that they'd gone HD on Freeview, simply because they had moved to one of the temporary HD muxes!

He has even sent an invoice and payment plan to the BBC as "TVL is a wholly owned subsidiary of the BBC"!!!

Re: Keep It Country want a cut of the licence fee.

Why should a channel that is “Europe wide” be funded by the UK licence fee payer?

That would go down well, especially with the over 75s now in the line of fire again for paying up.

Why does BBC America carry advertisements when the BBC in the UK does not?

In the UK, the BBC is funded by British TV licensing fees. However, by law, the BBC is not allowed to use this money to fund channels outside the UK and therefore BBC America and other BBC channels around the world are reliant on advertising sales.

Exactly. I have a feeling that this could be a stunt to obtain publicity, given the nonsense that the owner has come out with before.

Why? If the BBC can be self funding in America and any other country in the world why not the UK?

What is so special about the UK that it needs to be funded by a TV License?

I loved Keep it Country, but mines is always full of lines and cannot watch it, I still have Virgin Media in other rooms so I might consider swooping over to my living room ,
