Moonee Valley: Schweppes Stakes (Group 2) 6f, turf, 3yo+

SPRINT superstar Black Caviar (Peter Moody/Luke Nolen) had little more than a racecourse gallop as she arrogantly dismissed three rivals to take her unbeaten record to 15 in Melbourne on Saturday.

Quote:
"It's just a wonderful story," he said. "It's a dream come true - you've just got to see the joy she brings people.

CAMELOT is as short as 3-1 (from 8-1) with Ladbrokes for the Investec Derby after barely coming off the bridle to win the Group 1 Racing Post Trophy.

Quote:
Aidan O’Brien, who was winning the race for the sixth time, said: “He’s looked extraordinary all the way along and he’s unbelievable at home. I’m over the moon and we’re looking forward to next year already.”

Betfred Monet's Garden Old Roan Chase (Grade 2) 2m4f, 4yo+

ALBERTAS RUN and Tony McCoy had to work to beat outsider Pure Faith, who ran the race of his career to finish within a length of the winner. The pair left 2-5 favourite Master Minded, who put in a mixed round of jumping, a beaten horse at the last.

RUBY WALSH said on Saturday that that he could review the frequency of his visits to Britain after he breached the new whip rules at Aintree - where jockeys threatened to boycott the following race in support of their colleague.

Quote:
Reacting to the ban, an angry Walsh said: “The punishment didn’t fit the crime. I miss a Grade 1 chase at Down Royal and a good race at Cork. If that deserves a five-day ban the game is f***ed."

Quote:
The ban sparked discussions between Walsh’s weighing room colleagues, who were reluctant to participate in the sixth race, with the jockeys only deciding to ride after champion jockey Tony McCoy intervened.

Re: Horse Racing

KEVIN DARLEY, chief executive of the Professional Jockeys' Association, on Sunday expressed his concerns over the amended whip rules introduced on Friday and called for the BHA to make a further review of the permitted number of times a jockey can use his whip during a race - currently seven on the Flat and eight over jumps.

Quote:
Jockeys are still getting banned left, right and centre. I just don't think that these rules are working," the former jockey told At The Races.

Quote:
"The punishments are taking the competitiveness away from the jockeys. They're not acting as a deterrent and we need to look at the rule again."

CHAMPION COURT made his second start over fences a winning one after seeing off Saint Are and Astracad at Aintree on Sunday.

Capannelle (Rome): Longines Lydia Tesio (Group 1) 1m2f,3yo+ fillies' & mares'

AFTER a run of seeing their top prizes poached by foreign raiders, the Italians could celebrate a big home win thanks to the tough and talented Quiza Quiza Quiza.

Quote:
Winning trainer Luigi Riccardi said: "The Tesio has always been a difficult race but our filly is just at the best of her form. This was her third run after a summer break, which is when she is at her best. The rain and soft ground was also a good thing for her."

Ruby Walsh unwilling to commit to Poquelin ride

Quote:
RUBY WALSH on Sunday said that the five-day whip ban he was handed at Aintree the previous day has left him questioning the merits of riding Poquelin in Saturday’s Grade 2 Bet365 Charlie Hall Chase at Wetherby.

Quote:
"I'm facing a ten-day suspension next time I offend. I didn’t offend on purpose yesterday and I won't offend on purpose ever again, so every ride I take from now on in the UK has to be extremely calculated. It has to be worth the risk."

We have just got to hope that he makes a full recovery but it is going to be tight to get him to the Guineas. We have just got to hope that he comes back bang on-song and if he does he is the horse they will all be fearing next year, I am absolutely sure.
