No, it's because most people prefer subscription streaming rather than purchase. The odd purchase can be done via Amazon, Google Play, iTunes etc.

Or maybe this proves that BBC programmes are not as highly regarded by the public out there as the BBC and its protagonists like to think they are.

The Netflix originals in particular are setting a new quality standard. The Crown and House of Cards are just two examples of the standards that the BBC need to match or beat to justify their compulsory subscription fee.

No, that is not the case. BBC dramas are very popular in the UK and US. As are ITV dramas. That is why the BBC and ITV have setup up a joint streaming service in the US.

And that's only mentioning the recent stuff , I'm not a massive BBC watcher but they've had some good shows over the years.

Yes we watch a lot of the drama and other type series from other sources as well but sadly MM l think some will criticise the BBC because its a easy punch bag to hit

I'd be surprised if they can add anything of real significance, especially for those with a pay TV service.
Not only that, but those who currently do not need to get a TV licence by law will have to do so if they watch the live Amazon channels.

Fear The Walking Dead season 2 is now available on Amazon Instant Video. Season 3 is just about to start on BT's AMC channel.

Re: Netflix/Streaming Services

Friends keep telling me that Netflix via smart TV's is offering the first six months free.

Both my V6 and Samsung TV are only offering the usual one free month. I rang Netflix and they said that they had no such offer, but that some third parties sometimes make such offers.

Has anyone else heard anything about this?

Re: Netflix/Streaming Services

I doubt it'll show up in the app itself. When VM did a six month offer, you got the code separately, and had to add it to any new or existing Netflix account.
