I know you will disagree, but I meant that Airlines should buy low cost airlines and keep operating them as such

And what would be the point of that? These airlines already exist.

Didn't BA start up a budget airline, but failed miserably, and then it was bought out?

BA are struggling at doing what they know best, so to branch out into something that they aren't any good at would be suicide.

You only want them shut down because you are obsessed with BA for some reason.

I don't think budget airlines provide a good service and last time I checked I do NOT own a Private jet

BA failed becuased the market was crowded full of them, if they bought Easyjet, then it would been sucess

That’s how the world works! If people actually wanted the standards that full service airlines offer then why are they having to compete with the low-cost airlines? The fact is the majority of people don't want that, they want to get from A to B (via C with Ryanair but you know that when you book) as cheaply as possible.

Alan, you are by your own admission fairly wealthy. Maybe paying an extra £100 to fly somewhere doesn’t bother you but, for the majority less fortunate than yourself, that could mean the difference between flying and not flying.

They will still have to compete even if they buy a low-cost airline... or are you suggesting they use the profits from the low-cost airline to support the Full Service airline?

You can still be elitist by thinking that you are too good to fly with budget airlines.

Other budget airlines have succeeded where BA failed. A budget airline run by BA would be just another budget airline, the same as the others. Can't you work that one out Alan?

And BA are skint, so they aren't likely to be buying anyone out.

I would take that with a pinch of salt, as Alan says many things that aren't exactly believable. Like the fact that he is senior management in a logistics company. Yet he has no management sense whatsoever, and he spends much of his time on forums.

You are completely missing the point Alan. It doesn't matter who owns the airline, it would still be a budget airline, providing the budget airline service you hate.

If they tried improving the standards, then it would cost more money, and they wouldn't be able to compete, so they would go bust.

This is simple business sense, and should be easy to understand for someone in higher management of a large company

How do you know Alan??? A while ago you hadn't flown with them, but now you have flown with one budget airline, which happened to be the worst one. So tell us Alan, how can you judge them all??

But if they took over a budget airline, then the airlines would not have to reduce standards on their non-low-cost service, also BA are buting BMI as well, Air Berlin is not a budget airline and is part of the same alliance as BA/Iberia

I know I traveled on thr worse one, but even that put me off, some like budget airlines (like yourself) and some do not (like myself)
