Good news. Out of interest, I did a search and couldn't find any evidence of a known problem.

They said one of the pipes from it had become brittle and split.

While there was little water in the car, there would still have been some (depending on which pipe had failed).
Also, I know older Focus models had a cylinder head temperature sensor, which would detect overheating totally separately to the cooling system, and would put the car in to "limp home" mode before engine damage could result.

You are indeed a lucky chap dilli as l remember on one of my long terms stays they took blood several times a day for weeks on end and my veins were struggling to give anything out in the end.

I had a similar 'near miss' with my motor last year. I'd noticed a persistent coolant drop over a period of time but there were no visible signs of any leaks then one day I noticed a drip of fluid on the drive just under the o/s rear wheel arch. A feel around under the plastic wheel arch lining revealed badly corroded metal cooling system pipework which it turns out was a known issue on that model my car was years out of warranty. Evidently the system had only been leaking significantly under pressure so had I done a long trip before discovering the problem I could well have had a wrecked engine. The cheap solution to my problem was to simply bypass the whole rear section of the heating circuit and leave the rusty pipework in place. Phew!

That's excellent news dilli that your kidneys are doing well and even though its not booze you can drink there is nothing wrong with a cup of tea and a biscuit.

Reminds me of a time I was waiting to see the asthma nurse at my surgery and a bloke came in and said to the receptionist that he had an appointment with Dracula. We all had a chuckle at that.

That's great news dilli.
Oh and don't worry about your blood suckers running out of victims as they have moved over to torment me. My current twice/thrice daily tests should keep them distracted until at least next week.

Re: The Happy Thought Thread Part 4
Cheers guys, my results are looking good so far just a matter testing to make sure my latest drug regime keeps me stable.
I shall be immensely happy when dilli can say the same.
