Name that channel
Back between 1990 to 1993 I remember my uncle was able to watch a subscription movie service on SKY that wasn't SKY Movies. I'm sure he had to attach a decoder box to his SKY analogue receiver to way the channel. It was called something like MovieMax or CineMax.
Can anyone else remember this? What was it called? Who was it run by and how much did it cost? It's bugging me as it popped into my head today out of the blue.

Re: Name that channel
Back in the analogue days of sky we had 2 boxes, the sky decoder and the descrambler box was separate. There was also a channel called sky movies max. Is that maybe what you remember?

The good old descrambler box, I forgot about that. I remember when we first got SKY, our analogue box only had 12 channels. The actualy box itself had 12 channel buttons on the front of it!
I don't think it was SKY Movies Max. What I can remember is that it was a poor relation to SKY's Movie channel. Whilst SKY would be showing the latest movies of the day like Robocop, Predator and Police Academy IV this rival cheaper service would be showing Rocky III, Poltergeist and Gremlins.

Re: Name that channel
The OP is probably remembering FILMNET which was broadcast on the Astra analogue system and required a seperate decoder that was nothing to do with Sky

That sounds more familiar.
