Angry Phone line out of order for over 24 hours

I was sent a message to my mobile phone to update work on my landline - it has been fixed it told me. But it is still out of order. I rang 150 from another Virgin phone and was told to wait 20 minutes to make an appointment with an engineer, at the end of 20 minutes the line went silent.
On 'My Virgin Media' it indicated that 'status' was ok. I'm baffled.
I am an old man of 81 living alone - so it is obvious that I am a person who needs the phone to communicate.

Try ringing 151 from a Virgin phone. This gets you through to technical support rather than customer services.

The service status thing on my virgin media is about the whole area, if a fault is occuring just to your line or if they are not aware of any issues effecting your local area then it will show that it is working fine. However there is a section that can now test your line and if a fault is found then you will be give the opportunity to book an appointment for an engineer online.
