I got the following info from ''ufitm'' last night:
Thank you for your e-mail to Neil Berkett on 13 May regarding your queries about Virgin media services.

We will be launching more channels later in the year, and the channel launches will be a mixture of those which will harmonise the services across the platforms and some new content for all customers. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide details around the nature of this content at this point, but you should see it arrive over the coming months.

There were cable exclusive channels at one point but they died a death. The fact is that for a TV channel to make any money it needs to have output on the three major platforms (Sky, Virgin and Freeview) and preferably be able to get access to the IPTV ones and freesat as well.
Even Virgin1 has needed to launch on Sky as well.
As for new channels, it is not exactly the time in the market to launch. I would like to see Mainstreet and Travel Channel come onto the Virgin platform as they are the only two I would watch in the current Sky lineup

Let's hope the "porn" channels are moved to reasonable set of numbers.

Its going to be in England, Wales & NI too so you should remove that part in your next update.
Any news on DMAX +1.5?

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV
Why would Setanta want to offer an HD exclusive channel on the Virgin platform? I've read on another forum they get about £2.50 per month per Virgin XL subscriber and a whopping £12.99 less VAT for the Sky platform. Why would they want to encourage migration from Sky to Virgin on that basis?

£2-2.50 has been widely reported and I've yet to see a source dispute that.
Well for it to be a realistic proposition for Setanta then as an additional sub they'd be looking at around £8 per month. I don't foresee Virgin jumping to offer that considering all the HD channels you get for £10 on Sky HD.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV
maybe if they had a HD exclusive channel on VM and if VM did the same with a few more channels then instead of VM having about 10% of the viewers of Sky that figure might change to be more in VMs favour and therefore increase their profit
