Just got on this service and 3 days in seems forver ago since I had endless problems with NTL. My question is I no longer seem to have anything except a 169.xxx.xxx.xxx IP address? I am connected via USB to the CM. Anybody know how AOL assigns Ip address.
Eh, yeah thats what I meant. Under ipcoinfig/all I have a 169 set under my USB modem no of which have a DHCP number. There is a second set under a WAN (PPP/SLIP) inteface that has a 195?
If you're using AOL BB then your IP is allocated via PPPOE hence the 195.* address under WAN settings and a 169.* via straightforward DHCP (as you are not authorised to get an ntl IP address. As far as anyone in the outside world is concerned you are an aol customer and there is no link to ntl unlike say virgin/tesco dial up where you get allocated a ntli.net IP adddress.
If you open up a command window and do ipconfig /all your default gateway should also be showing as a 195.*
