Moving/reconnecting cable

Hi, I have been with virgin since the Blueyonder/Telewest days (15 yrs) and originally my cable connection came into the downstairs lounge. I then had it moved to a back bedroom, but now want to move it back to the lounge. The hole through the wall into the lounge directly behind the outside box is still there but the internal cable box and phone socket have been taken out
As Virgin want 99.00 to move it back has anyone any ideas abot me doing it myself..( i am an electrician and understand how easy it is to just cut the cable outside about a metre from the box and just feed it back through the hole and connect the existing boxes from upstairs. But would i be better getting hold of new boxes and cable and leaving the existing instalation in place? If so where can i get the bits and how would virgin react to any future problems that might occur with the service if i had moved it myself.
Or should i just complain and tell them that after 15 yrs they owe me..
Any advice gratefully received.. Cheers

Re: Moving/reconnecting cable

considering that said cables will be carrying current albeit micro volts i would not suggest that you cut them . rather i would contact supplier and threaten them with moving to a new supplier ie. (sky) and watch them wriggle

Re: Moving/reconnecting cable

DIY with cable connections is always dodgy, as you could end up with signal issues and your Virgin kit not working.
