Cant email Hotmail accounts from yahoo address
ive been trying all morning to send a friend of mine an email with an 8mb attachment which he wants and i keep getting a mailer demon error...
Hi. This is the qmail-send program at yahoo.com.
I'm afraid I wasn't able to deliver your message to the following addresses.
This is a permanent error; I've given up. Sorry it didn't work out.

I am even unable to email it to my own MSN address, just wondering if anyone else is having the same problem.

Mail systems often have a limit on attachment size, typically 4 or 5 MB
But that shouldn't give that error message
Have you tried typing the email address in by hand?

MSN has a max attachment size of 15mb and yahoo 20mb.
Yes ive typed it by hand and even replied to an email.

There were some oddities with Microsoft's DNS records late last night so perhaps this is related and there are still some problems. By the look of it the sending host is unable to resolve the mx entries for hotmail.com thus cannot determine a suitable destination mailhost.

With the problem being from the source mailhost it's difficult to troubleshoot particularly if it's a dns issue. The resolver path could be victim of bad cache entries if there's been a problem.
I've checked the MX records from a couple of public dns services (google, opendns) and my own company dns and it looks ok. This is from opendns via my router:
C:\Users\Anon>nslookup

Server: UnKnown
Address: 192.168.1.1
Non-authoritative answer:

Just found this

Redmond knocked their dns up the creek with a Group Policy update. But I'm not surprised, that's what they get for eating their own dogfood and running some of their external DNS on Windows domain controllers/dns service!
That's why Hotmail, xbox live and any of the zones serviced by msft were unresolvable.
