Reboot

every few weeks i loose my wireless connection, When i try another lap top that connects ok. The only way i can get the wireless connection back on my lap top is to reboot the rooter . When the connection goes i can connect using ethernet cable. Has any one any ideas as to why this happens only on one lap top.

Re: Reboot

What router do you have?

If you have a smartphone download a wi-fi analyser to see if anybody is using the same channel as you, if so change to another one.

Re: Reboot

Changing channel on a router is easy, just log into the router and one of the menu options will have the channel you are using, but before you change it you need to make sure you are change to a better one.

Somebody here will be able to tell you the ip for the VM router, as I don't have one.

Re: Reboot

Do you power your laptop off or leave it in sleep mode?

I have a similar problem as I often leave mine in sleep/hibernate mode and a weekly reboot cures it.

Re: Reboot

I turn lap top off every night. Im not sure if changing the router channel would help as theres no problem with other lap tops connecting when mine wont.

Well it is easy to do and won't cost anything. I would give it a try. If it causes connectivity issues with your other equipment, simply revert back.
