Another pedestrian fatality due to cement lorryists.
That'd be relevant in a thread on 'cement lorryists'. Just as there are threads about cyclists killed on our roads, this is a thread about deaths caused by cyclists.

The juxtapostion of my post with yours is for balance; that makes it relevant.

Re: [Update] Cyclist convicted of "wanton and furious driving"

From the report

There were a lot of witnesses, who said that traffic was at a standstill by the pedestrian crossing.

"They said that the woman was walking between queued up vehicles when the lights changed.

"Two hours after the tragedy, the lorry driver was led from the scene in tears by two colleagues."

Note he was not yelling at the victim, which the lady mown down by the subject in this thread had to endure.

I think you are trying to compare apples with pears.

If the lorry was illegal and the driver culpable then it is a fair comparison.

Re: [Update] Cyclist convicted of "wanton and furious driving"

The idiot has been sentenced to 18 months in a youth offenders' institution. Maybe he'll equip his bike properly when he gets out.

Why a youth offenders institution? At 18 he should be classed as an adult, he is for anything else.

Maybe he should have been banned from riding a bike?

So if you want to kill someone use a bike as the punishment is quite light.

So he can 'graduate' to this maybe?

Or a mobility scooter. These killers are more dangerous than lumbago and gout.

Excellent news, hope he has lots of soap on a rope

Judge Wendy Joseph described Alliston as "an accident waiting to happen".
Sentencing at the Old Bailey, the judge said: "I am satisfied in some part it was this so-called thrill that motivated you to ride without a front brake shouting and swearing at pedestrians to get out of the way.
"I have no doubt you are wrong in this. You were an accident waiting to happen.
"The victim could have been any pedestrian. It was in fact Mrs Kim Briggs."

Re: [Update] Cyclist convicted of "wanton and furious driving"

Sentence is NOT long enough.

Cyclist, have this feeling that they can use the roads, and pathways as they like. This will be the second death caused by an accident in the last six weeks.

And before cyclists start slagging me off. I ride a cycle each day - I wear head gear, high vis jackets and cycles. And ride only on the road. And have front and rear brakes.

Some cyclists are a menace

But Arthur, his sentence also apparently includes furious and wanton buggery:

Yes but he's rightly concerned that the furious and wanton buggery wont be going on for a long enough period of time, this short sharp shock buggery won't suffice in this case.
