BT, Sky or other - Who the best for gaming?

Hi,

We seem to be having a lot of issues with our VM connection and it is coming up for renewal next month and I was wondering, who is the best for gaming?

Is it Sky, BT or other?
Also what speed would I need to be looking at upto 40MB or 80MB

Most other providers will be similar as running on same openreach network but their routers vary.

Sky and BT generally have better upload speeds and lower latency than virgin

I believe sky have a lot of their own network that does not rely on Openreach except in some areas?

Having left Virgin Media almost 4 years ago due to bad latency and lag destroying the ability to game, I switched to Sky and have had a rock steady connection and low latency ever since. Also no jitter which makes a huge difference for gaming.

Yellow caterpillars are my downloads.

The naysayers here said I would get gradually get congestion with Sky and same bad performance as I had with VM but 4 years later, still stress free

Re: BT, Sky or other - Who the best for gaming?

All DSL providers use the BT Openreach network, although Vodafone DO have their own core fibre network after they purchased Cable & Wireless a few years ago, so some of their traffic goes over that. But primarily all providers use OR cabinets and exchanges.
