Re: Several people feared dead in Munich shopping centre shooting
It's not exactly been a secret that much of the incidents in Germany over the last year have been hushed up, so why wouldn't I be serious.
I'll add this as something to think about (from arrse)
Quote:
More innocent bystanders passers by killed for just being there.
The fact that the far right has been mentioned in the same breath, on BBC and by other news agencies is a measure of their desperation for it not to be yet another Islamic atrocity.
Any far right incident has seemed to have had very specific targets in mind and not random acts of terror that include anyone and everyone. Brevic for example, as he was quoted by the BBC, chose a specific group based upon who he felt was responsible for the influx of ’strangers’.
The ’surveillance’ state that is being mentioned with such shock horror and dismay, ignores the fact that Britain is perhaps the most surveilled nation around. And by golly it certainly does reel in a bunch of anti-socials.
The hallmark of ‘Islamic’ terrorism is it’s complete inclusion of anyone unlucky enough to be around at the time they decide its time to go to their ‘Paradise' where it seems a number of ‘haram’ things are conveniently left behind.
Suicide Bombings and Martyrdom in Islam
But of course that is a simplistic and quite anti-Islamic point of view...of course it was the far right... if they have dual nationality German/Iranians in the far right.

Re: Several people feared dead in Munich shopping centre shooting
I heard that in Munich people were tweeting a hashtag to say they a bed for those who were stuck in Munich.

Re: Several people feared dead in Munich shopping centre shooting
Of course it's quite possible the bloke was just a plain nutter and wanted to kill loads of random people for his own personal reasons,we've had a few in this country ,Derrick Bird killed 12,Barry Williams killed 8,the Hungerford massacre 16 dead, the Monkseaton shootings 1 dead 14 injured etc, etc.

Indeed and sadly there will be nutters in the future no matter how hard one tries.

It's looking like it, guy had a load of reading materials regarding spree shootings on his person and in his house.

Re: Several people feared dead in Munich shopping centre shooting
He was obsessed with Anders Breivik apparently. I find it odd to have a German-Iranian citizen involved in a shooting spree and it's a far-right white supremacist who he, at least according to reports so far, was 'inspired' by. Yesterday incidentally has the 5 year anniversary of that attack.
It seems so far though that it was the murder aspect, rather than any political aspect, that inspired him which I think would mean it isn't a terrorist attack. Again this is all speculative.
Some of the reporting is poor again though. Look at this line:
Quote:
The German 18-year-old who killed nine people at a Munich shopping centre on Friday night was obsessed with mass killings, owned a book on US school shootings and played computer shooting games.
|
I guess it's relevant but you need more than that to call it an obsession. Many of us have played 'computer shooting games'. It's also not unusual to own books about horrible things.

Re: Several people feared dead in Munich shopping centre shooting
It's all they have to go on, as the perp is dead, you'd be called the same under similar circumstances.
I suspect that it was another case of the bullied raging against the bullies, it's been seen before.
God knows what people would think of me if they saw my book collection/dvd collection and had nothing else to go on.

Re: Several people feared dead in Munich shopping centre shooting
I'd be classed as a nutjob based on my book collection and I don't think I gave a peaceful game on my PC but they need to get headlines out and the flimsiest stuff is often thrown up soon after any incident. Sounds more like an individual with problems then anything more sinister but plenty of time to go before everything is known.

Luckily guns and explosives are hard to come by in the UK.

Yup, thank the Lord.
However lorries, vans, petrol and all manner of other 'potentially' deadly things aren't. It's really not that difficult to kill a whole lot of people if you want to and we don't have hordes of armed police readily available to take budding terrorists out.

Quote:
Video footage has emerged of confrontations between individuals claimed to be supporters of Islamic State and mourning Germans at a shrine to victims of Friday’s shooting in Munich, while police stand by and explain they are powerless to get involved.
While videos showing the exchanges between “Allahu Akbar” shouting men and angered locals who had come to pay respects to the dead have received almost no attention in German media, Italian newspaper Il Fatto Quotidiano reports on the arguments showing the raw passions and anger unearthed by the killings.

Well you certainly couldn't make some of this up
