As I said, sometimes it's better to draw a line under it and move on.

Not in the case of Hillsborough as the police and other services covered up for over two decades and if we drew a line over that straight away then the real truth would have never emerged sadly.

Depressingly you might be right. I can't say I even slightly like what's replacing it, either the more left-wing or the more right-wing variety.

Both sides are becoming more extreme which only causes each of them to then get more extreme in response to each others increasing extremism.
Either way both are more authoritarian and less concerned with individual freedom and more concerned with protectionism.

What did you expect, when the electorate has been so let down and are so apathetic the only voices heard are the extremists, it's their fault the public can't be bothered to drag them back into the middle ground imo

If the police and other services where allowed to get away with it they would do it again the next time they dropped the ball and in the case of the police especially we have to have 100% trust or there reason for existing evaporates

We've followed the example of the United States, as we often do. If they elect Trump I'm sure we'll elect Corbyn's Labour just to carry on the pattern.

Re: [Updated] Theresa May is new UK PM
I think this country is still way too sensible to elect Corbyn thankfully but we desperately need a party to hold a governing party to account and prevent any serious lurches to either extreme. I think too many people in the last couple of decades have become so disappointed in our political system and in turn have become apathetic to the whole process that until we start resolving that our politics is going to continue in dire straits. I don't know how we resolve that but politicians dropping spin and soundbite policy would be a start and actually leading by example instead of the "trust us" attitude of recent leaders might be a good start.

Re: [Updated] Theresa May is new UK PM
Politicians who drop the spin and soundbites lose. The current crop of politicians are riding the populist wave based on giving people what they want or at least promising it to them.
I'm not convinced politicians who tell people they can't have the moon on a stick would do well at the moment.
Post-fact politics isn't much fun for honest people.
