Quite right Stephen don't hurt them, you don't want them to come back and do it again. I'd suggest getting a laser pen, attract the curious moggy poop monster with its pretty flashing light and when a car passes, a deft flick of the wrist removes the menace from your life and flower beds forever.

Re: Deterring cats.
I read that lion poo of orange peel would deter cats, the later being easier to obtain, unless you live next to a zoo

Yep. I've found cat crap on solid concrete and also on my lawn. Filthy buggers will do it anywhere.

I can tell you first hand,(well feet) that they do. There is a local cat/s that are crapping on our grass right were we walk to get down the garden. This year i have to remove or gone over with the lawn mower plenty of turds.
You leave stuff out for example shoes boots or the bin bags, pick them up the next day and have the nasty aroma of Tom cat spray on hands and clothes. Had to get clean clothes on one Monday morning after picking up the bags to put out.
Can't understand why people waste there time having them, they are disloyal, roam around the place freely, crapping and peeing at will, kill wildlife and somehow when you talk to these owners and express your problems with there cats, YOU are made out to be the bad guy. Oh yes and that rubbish reply,"We have a cat litter tray in our house so can't be our cat/s"

Re: Deterring cats.
Don't get me started on dogs. They are no better and their poo is normally larger. And as for male dogs they do seem to like legs.

Re: Deterring cats.
But at least a dog turd is a good honest log sitting on the surface.

Whilst i agree with you, at least you can report the dog owners and get something done about it. Cats owners are beyond reproach.

Re: Deterring cats.
The neighbours cats are crapping on our lawn as well as foxes. Their mess is a very different consistency/smell and they make no effort to bury it wherever they do it. I've used thorny twigs to deter them from using the small flowerbeds we have but they're still using the grass.

Re: Deterring cats.
I think that cats should be redefined as vermin. On every front they qualify.
