You mean a wrong example then. Nothing "kind" about it, I just wanted to correct any misunderstanding.

Insulting people who have a preference to run direct from a downloaded executable seems over the top. Putty, for example, is a very well respected utility and it offers a binary download or a Windows installer. The user can choose.

Re: Cant delete a file

Since when has putty integrated in with the shell especially as it's a standalone that doesn't link with any other file unlike the style of the program in question Talk about proving a not wrong example with a totally remote example

Oh this forum does have me in stitches at times.. Between paranoia, pedants and the misguided who actually think that the rest give a damn.

Not sure what the problem is here. I was giving an example of a mainstream program that people can choose to use with or without an installer.

I am guessing here that you are a) not paranoid, b) not a pedant and c) not misguided and d) don't give a damn

Re: Cant delete a file

Too right

Putty is very much standalone (excellent little program I've used for over a decade) where as LockHunter interacts with other files. If one decides on a program based on if there is an installer or not when it clearly needs one mixed with their previous posts for old versions of windows and old versions of forum software then what else can they be but paranoid.

I can understand biasing choices towards security but not to that extent.

Good call Taf

This site is good too for portable self contained apps.
