Secure borders?
Quote:
A Dutch man has been found guilty over an operation to use a fleet of fake ambulances to smuggle drugs with a street value of £1.6bn into the UK.
Father-of-four Leonardus Bijlsma, 55, was described as the "right-hand man" in the operation involving specially adapted vehicles and using ports from Essex to East Yorkshire...
... When officers examined the ambulance they found concealed compartments behind metal rivet panels containing colour-coded parcels.
Inside was 193kg of cocaine worth £30m, 74kg heroin worth £8m in individual deals, and ecstasy tablets and crystal worth £60,000...
... Fake invoices and paperwork for false patient transfers to The Royal London Hospital were produced by Schoon's company, despite the hospital having no records of any trips, with false addresses and phone numbers for patients also made.
The scheme ran from April last year until the arrest of the quartet, with Schoon believed to have made 39 separate journeys.

All too simple it seems and I wonder how many more examples there are of this sort of thing going on? This time it was huge amounts of drugs but it could have been weapons, explosives or anything else for that matter couldn't it?

Re: Secure borders?
As ex-ambulances (still painted in full livery) are a common vehicle type for jihadists, trying to smuggle drugs in one seems a bit idiotic.

Re: Secure borders?
I can't disagree but maybe the real idiots are those who effectively waived them through. That's presuming, of course, there was anyone much at the points of entry doing any checks in which case the problem is those who're failing to provide the required resources in spite of the very well known risks.

Re: Secure borders?
Secure Borders. Don't make me laugh. This country don't have any. When you think when you go to Dover, to catch the ferry. They just push you onto the ferry.
And What about coming here. There must be thousands that have come to this country, and no one knows where they are.
How do we know if they are any terrorist in this country, waiting for the nod to strike. We don't.
I think someone said on this forum, terrorists could have come via migrants coming via Lorries, by Sea.
There was a HGV stopped on the M25 services, and someone took photos of migrants getting out the back. How do we know if these were genuine migrants or terrorists - we don't.
I believe that we should double the guards at all ports and especially the Channel Tunnel

Re: Secure borders?
Can't fault you there Arthur.
We should be deploying our army to help guard our own borders rather than wasting their lives in pointless foreign adventures.

Funnily enough, they do, when was the last time you were on a flight?
Thousands of what ?
Funnily enough we have these things called the intelligence services who whilst prone to making the odd gaff are rather good at finding out things to do with terrorism.
terrorists can come via migrants? as in busting out of their chests Alien style? Lorries by sea? Did they drive on the ocean floor? or did someone go all scrapheap challenge and fit lots of old rusty oil drums to help them float.
How do we know the person taking wasn't taking photographs wasn't a terrorist? How do we know you're not a terrorist ??????
How many ports in the UK have you been too, and can you provide their full security measures ?
