GTX 680 lines on boot up?
bought a card off ebay the other day tried it today and not sure if it's faulty
the card needs 6+8 pin and I only have 6 pin connectors but 2 of them have a +2 attached.
So I connected the card up this way and on my mobo boot logo it is showing distorted lines once it boots to my windows 10 login screen the monitor goes black.
I've seen this before a long time ago on a faulty GFX card but wanted to make sure it's not my power supply
Xenta 800W 13.5cm Fan PSU - 80plus Certified 6x SATA 6x PCI-E.
Features:
Active PFC and 80plus Bronze Certified for increased efficiency
Large 13.5cm Cooling fan for quiet operation
All braided cables for case cable management
High quality black paint finish
800W Continuous output, 900W Maximum output
Cable Connectors: 20+4pin Power, 4+4pin ATX12v, 6x SATA, 6x PCI-Express (4x 6pin, 2x 6+2pin), 6x Molex, 2x Floppy
6x Cable Ties included for case cable management
1.2 Metre UK Power cable included
Someone has suggested I buy a 6-8pin adapter to see if that would work? instead of using the 6+2 pin but I personally can't see why it wouldn't work?
I've contacted the seller to let them know the card could be faulty and that I would have another go with it but if I can't get it working it will have to be returned
Any advice welcome

I would try the adapter first, u can proberbly get one on ebay for next to nothing and also try a different PCI-E slot if possible.

I'll order an adapter tonight. I can't try it on a different pci slot as I have only 1X 16 although I do have another x4 I'm guessing it might work on that?
In saying that I have a GTX 570 that runs on 2x6 pin and that it working fine and the 460 I had in it before that was a 6 pin and that worked fine as well all in the same motherboard

Wouldn't waste my time. There's no reason to suspect the power connector has anything to do with it. A 6+2 pin IS an 8 pin connector. 6 + 2 = 8. If there was any problem with the power connectors the card would just beep and display no output at all.

Re: GTX 680 lines on boot up?
Managed to get the pc to boot into safe mode and take off the 570 driver and install the 680 one but it didn't make a difference.
infact when I first went into the start menu it was flickering in and out a couple of times before it popped up.
After the driver update I couldn't even get the pc to boot onto the login screen of the desktop I would get the windows 10 booting logo then the screen would switch off.
Going to req a refund I think

Re: GTX 680 lines on boot up?
Lines across screen is normally a sign of memory or the address lines to the memory are faulty. There is an outdated video memory test on majorgeeks which should be able to determine the issue. I'd send it back if it was sold as fully working

Re: GTX 680 lines on boot up?
Sent the card back to the guy and got a refund, he put the card back in Ebay a few hours later as repairs/spares.
Ended up buying a new PSU Corsair CS750M and a new GFX card Asus Direct CU 2 gtx 960 4GB paid £280 for both.
giving it a couple of months and will update the CPU and motherboard as I think these will bottle the card a bit that I am using at the moment
