Recording Pay Per View
Hi All
Can't seem to find an up to date answer on this....
Is it possible to record a Pay Per View event e.g. Wrestlemania to the TiVo box?
I also do have a DVD/HDD recorder hooked up to the TiVo via Scart - so could record it to the HDD as it's being broadcast?
If not - can we drop it to the HDD from the MyShows via the Scart socket output?
Little Pieman is keen WWE fan but it's unlikely he will watch the full 4 hours in 1 go (and especially at 1 o'clock in the morning!!!)
Thanks all!

Re: Recording Pay Per View
You can't record PPV on TiVo, but Wrestlemania will be repeated several times a day from Monday to Thursday, so he can catch up on a later showing. You don't need to buy it a second time to watch the repeats.
You can try recording to HDD from the SCART socket but you may find it fails due to copy protection.

Re: Recording Pay Per View
I can't remember, does the Tivo have an RF out?
If not, back in the day i remember bypassing copy protection by having a scart lead with some of the wires missing, not all the pins were connected.

Not sure if missing pins can defeat macrovision - though ebay reveals plenty of devices that can - it's also possible that some computer video grabbers might ignore it, possibly depending on the particular software / drivers used.

Re: Recording Pay Per View
They used to mangle the black video level during the frame retrace (the first 20 or so lines) so the VCRs of the time couldn't set their recording levels correctly. It wouldn't surprise me if they still do something similar to upset recording devices.
Not too difficult to circumvent though.
