ntlworld account deleted???

I have had my ntlworld email account for 15 years. I have recently moved house and got a brand new virgin media account. The old account is still active in my old house. Today I got round to changing the login details on both accounts. However, as soon as I changed the login name on the old account from my ntlworld email address I could no longer access my ntlworld email account. It is absolutely critical that I get my ntlworld email account back as soon as possible. But have spent the last couple of hours trying to speak to someone on the phone but had no joy.

What do I need to do? Help

The login name and password on your ntlworld.com email will remain unaltered even though you have a new VM account and e-mail addresses. VM honour the legacy addys it inherited from the various companies that it has absorbed.

The mail settings for SMTP and POP or IMAP should also remain the same.

I have a legacy ntl addy like this and it continues to work fine as does an old virgin.net one.

Re: ntlworld account deleted???

There have been a few changes to the email access method, you now have to set it to allow authentication and enter your FULL email address and password. This caught me out too, and the settings they posted would not work (do not change your port values).

There are loads and loads of threads about this on the VM help forum.

Re: ntlworld account deleted???

Spoke to someone last night. It hadn't been deleted. I changed the username on my old account back to my ntlworld email and I could access my account again. So I have left it how it was for now. Not ideal but my email account is working again.

Cheers for the replies. I will have a look through those old posts Taf.

If the emails are that important to you, you may want to consider backing them up as well as the address book in another email provider like Outlook or Gmail incase you ever lose access again.

I have never thought it to be a good idea to use my ISPs free email as my primary account.
