Re: "our government has now decided to redefine the word 'welfare'"
I disagree with vouchers universally but if people are going to be on benefit and keep dropping kids they can't afford there should be a consequence which at the minute there isn't. As for trading them for fags and booze require receipts before approving the next months amount this could be done at job centres and make it a criminal offence to use food vouchers by anyone other then the named person. There are ways that could be done that this government is not even bothering with for the simple fact that they know damn well fraud isn't the massive issue they like people to believe it is but they use it as justification for the cutting of benefits safe that most of the public won't delve to find out the truth.

Folks, As the OP can I ask (as ignitionnet has kindly already done) that you stick to the topic at hand rather than turning this thread into another bilious attack on sections of society.
The Government have used our money (£5m)to publish & present materials which many consider to be little more than propaganda.
Discuss.

I'm not exactly shocked or surprised by the propaganda, but more shocked by the amount of sheeple that end up believing it. Evidently as soon as you mention anything like that the 1st thing that pops up in discussion are scroungers the work-shy etc.
Probably they are just gearing up for the next lot of cuts to be justified.

The fact is any analysis of government spending is going to be skewed by whoever is doing the analysis.
For example, do you put BT's fibre rollout subsidy under infrastructure spending or industial aid? Does admin at the department of transport go under transport spending or government admin spending?

Yeh. it wouldn't surprise me in the excitement of it all that Dave comes out with a promise of he's going to round up all the scroungers in their thousands. and send them all by train somewhere.

Maybe that's why they're pushing for HS2?

First they make sure that housing in certain areas is too expensive, so that the erks have to move away (but not the ones that are needed to service the priveliged of course, they would get "affordable housing").
Then they move all the call-centres and meat processing factories to far flung corners of the UK (away from the affluent and their estates).
Finally they strip benefits one by one until the unwashed start to die in droves, after firstly turning cannibal decimating their numbers.
See, Iain Duncan Smith, I too can have loony ideas!!!
