When I turn the PC on I get a message to upgrade to Adobbie Reader X1. Is this ok to allow.

Re: Adobbie Reader
It probably is if it's Adobe.

Re: Adobbie Reader
If you have Reader 9, then XI is the latest, but will force you to add the Adobe Air Runtime.
If you already have adobe Reader X, or XI earlier version, or need Adobe Air for anything else, then you've already taken that hit.
My current reader is a LOT slimmer, and a lot safer ... have you seen the number of security advisories that Adobe Reader has had?
I'm on Sumatra Reader (it can also handle several other formats, and is full of open-source goodness) - not as fully featured (eg. doesn't offer booklet print).
There are plenty of non-Adobe Readers - and in general, they often just do not have some of the more ill-considered and attackable features that Adobe's bloatware does.

Re: Adobbie Reader
I use Foxit Reader and this allow me to add annotations and highlighting. Take care on installation not to get unwanted extras but it does work and is smaller that Adobe though it is growing.

I had to buy an external CD and DVD as my built one will not work, It copies most times but sometimes the disc jumps out and it says burner is busy, But I am not using it for anything else at that time. Any suggestions

FF built in PDF reader is soooooooooo sloooooooooooooow
That's why you want it separate. It's faster to download the file, run up the reader and open it.
