New 150m install, SH1
Guys,
VM did a fresh install (including digging up paths) at my new property a couple of weeks back. But I'm having real issues with the wireless and router.
I lose the admin interface a couple of hours after booting, and the only way to restore access is through rebooting. Similarly, the wifi signal is atrocious. To overcome this we thought we'd be clever and enable 2/5ghz dual band.
Then cue my shock, we can only use one or the other. It seems our SH is a v1. Although, it has a matte finish rather than the glossy finish typically used by the SH1, still, the cables come out the back rather than side like the SH2.
I'd have thought I'd get the SH3. But to get the SH1 is a bit of a kick in the face. Is there anyway to complain and receive a working SH2+ which doesn't involve sitting in a telephone queue to India for 4 hours and do ridiculous diagnostic tests which are related to nothing?

Re: New 150m install, SH1
There is no SH3, there's a SH2AC however.
That is weird, but not unconceivable that you have received a first gen SH1. When you log into 192.168.0.1 what model number is the hub listed as? VMDG480 is the SH1, VMDG485 is the 2 and 490 is the 2AC.
Still as you say if you can't use concurrent dual-band then it is indeed a SH1. Could you take a screenshot of the wireless settings too?

"Back" and "side" are ambiguous terms when describing routers... if you are unsure, look at the label or take a picture.
Nonetheless, as mentioned already there is no SH3, there is also no 150m, though there is a 152, which should normally get SH2+ these days.
Your problems are characteristic of the ones seen with the original SH1 so getting rid of that would be the first thing to do, but you would have to complain to VM to get that done.

Definitely call up Virgin and complain, you should have got at least a SH2.

Strange as when I upgraded to 152 I was sent a SH2 along with a note to get rid of the SH1 to a recycling centre.
