Re: New Year Revellers Face London Fireworks Charge

As you have been told before Arthur, many towns and cities charge for New Year vents now.

There are many reasons why a small charge is fine. It pays for all the extra staff, it pays for the clean up after the event and also goes towards funding the event itself, rather than it coming out of other funds or having to reserve a budget. It also helps keep it organised better and limits numbers putting less of a strain on transport networks.

Stop whinging. Its not meant to have changed because they charge.

There was a little girl on the news last night. she was crying because she couldn't go inside the 'payzone' to watch the fireworks.
she said her mummy has no money for her and her brother to go in. only the rich people are allowed to watch it now.

are you suggesting using the congestion charge to pay for it? Fine by me.

And the other way is the amount Westminster Council make out of Parking, and traffic fines in London.
.
again, fine by me.

well it has to be paid for by somebody.

Let the people of London decide, free fireworks for all paid for by a few more quid on their council tax.

Or charge all the tourists to attend

Hmmmmm................

I mean it's not even an issue is it?

Well the choice is clear then, stop the little girls tears by accepting, let's say, £20 on your council tax bill?

Yeh. but make it £25 and still charge the entrance fee.

it can be like the bin money then. we were already paying for it. but started being charged separately as well afterwards.

that way people will understand why they're charging for it easier.

Re: New Year Revellers Face London Fireworks Charge

Bin money?? What on earth are you talking about. Bin collection is part of the council tax.

Better the event be paid for in part by those attending rather than everyone eh?

Mountain out of a molehill really.
