Slow speed, lag in games.

Hi, since Saturday night I've been experiencing slow download speeds and lag in games. There was an outage Saturday night which was fixed early Sunday morning. Yesterday, the TBB monitor I have running was showing high minimum latency and generally unstable (normally fairly stable). There was a small outage again early this morning.

Was hoping whatever the problem was, was fixed but it doesn't seem to be, even though the graph looks better.

Done on a wired connection, pretty much always hit 30Mb normally.

Stats seem ok:

Re: Slow speed, lag in games.

Looks like something is using your connection heavily, e.g. torrenting, or a severe connection fault.

Re: Slow speed, lag in games.

If this deterioration has come out of the blue, my guess would be that there's work going on somewhere on your circuit and some of the traffic has been shunted onto your UBR, line card or whatever, interesting how your ping still seems pretty good though.

That or your just suffering from typical over utilisation on your downstream, my speed tests look just like yours (and gaming is frustrating) and I know mine are down to there being too many heavy down-loaders and not enough capacity which is due to be rectified sometime this year.

I'm currently getting a rebate of 15 quid a month for the privilege though

Came about after Saturday night's outage. I suppose they could still be working on it even though there's no mention of it on the service status checker. The connection gained another 2 downstream channels last week, from 6 to 8. Don't suppose that is likely to have caused any issues? Tracert to bbc.co.uk seems ok.

Connection went off again about 1:30pm (can see on the graph above). Seems whatever it was has been fixed, back to full speed again.
