Had a very camp gay nurse shave my chest with a pink razor that appeared from nowhere, so they could attach something. Felt very surreal at the time it was happening.

Nellie the Elephant is also good to time CPR.
The Vinnie Jones compression only is better than nothing but full CPR with breaths as required is still what's taught by Red Cross and others. My course (Nov 2013) did not include defib, it's a separate course to the 3 day first aid at work.

My annual first aid refresher includes full CPR with breaths but skipped over defibs by saying if you ever need to use one just follow the instructions...

People appear to have missed this. I would take this to mean that either the Spokesperson is wrong, or there was a reason the defib was not used. After all, in a lot of states, if you are medically trained, someone falls ill and you don't help, I believe you can be held liable for any consequences (such as death). If this is the case, the medical professionals would not have taken to the decision not to defibrillate lightly. Unfortunately, the article does not state the reason, seemingly preferring to infer that the airline cabin crew were responsible for the decision.

Yep, it pretty much does it itself, as long as you can get in the box it'll be fine.

It was good timing but modern CPR guidance will now regard that as a little too slow preferring Staying Alive, whether you are compressions only or compressions with breaths. The emphasis, assuming there is no AED available, and emergency medical assistance can be expected to arrive shortly, is very much on compressions.

Glad we're both clean shaven. Wouldn't want to die for want of a BIC.

I suspect it would take a hedge trimmer for my chest hair
