Superhub 5ghz dongle

As you all know I can only get 50mb on wireless on my laptop. someone suggested that i buy a 5g dongle and it will increase the speed, is this right and how much are they?

Yes. If you have a 5g router and a old laptop that doesn't support 5g then an adaptor will increase your speed over 50 if your ISP is providing you with speeds above this.

I think I posted a link in your original thread for a suitable dongle. Something like this should work like a charm and it is the bargain price of £20 with free delivery. If you ever fancy making the jump to supreme awesomeness I would also suggest investing in a Linksys router such as this

In fact, as they are only £36 (cheapest they have ever been and is an amazing price for the calibre of the router) I would very strongly suggest you get one now (along with anyone else reading this who needs a new router or is having a problem with the shub).

£56 for a cracking router and wireless dongle from Linksys is a supreme bargain. They are going to kick ass and provide you with stability, performance and reliability for a long time and is well worth the investment.

If you don't want an extra dongle on the laptop then try setting the superhub wifi speed from "up to 144" to "up to 300" - this will allow "wide channel" mode which could double the throughput.

The 3 superhub speed settings are:
54 - turns off "N" speed - on other routers, this is "b/g only" mode
144 - enables N speed, narrow channel (max 72 with single antenna N150 devices)
300 - enables wide mode (on other routers, 20/40MHz) - max 150 with single antenna N150 devices

NB. If the Superhub is Wifi certified and obeys the rules, it may be blocked from engaging wide channel mode due to adjacent channel occupancy
