What they do is this (Tin foil hat time)

Every phone call, email, text etc is monitored and keywords trigger alerts and agencies then check out the people invloved.

Possibly. However, while I don't mean to go against your training, is it not also possible that a lot of muslims are expecting an increase in prejudice, even if it's just people looking uncomfortable around them, and they are trying to avoid that?
