You could do that too. There's nothing inherently different about this drive to an SD card, it works in exactly the same way as far as Windows is concerned. They've maybe just bundled some extra software on it to make things easier for you but in the end a drive is a drive. You could just wipe it entirely and it'd work exactly like a blank SD card.
