weird problem

Hi I have a super hub 2 modem mode to a cisco E2000

every couple of days i do a speed check and its 80 meg . if i pull the power on the cisco to power it on again my speed goes back to normal 150 meg

this will last for a few days then it slows down.. should i ditch the cisco and just use the superhub ? would you think the cisco is faulty ?

no and no. I would stick to your current setup atm and monitor it over the next week. I came back off hols for two weeks on Friday and had a tonne of stuff to download and normally I can max out my connection no probs from the torrent site/trackers I use however my cumulative download speed wouldn't budge over 10MB/sec all Friday, Saturday and Sunday and averaged around 8.5MB/sec. I ran loads of speedtests on different servers over the three days and couldn't get over 100mbits so I knew something was up. Normally when I download stuff I can get 17-18MB/sec np. I was starting to get worried but yesterday everything magically returned to normal (without any reboots)

Re: weird problem

I might be wrong but I'm fairly sure there's a way to script the Cisco to reboot at a set time each day (say 4am). Maximus would be the one to know about that though.

Re: weird problem

I might be wrong but I'm fairly sure that having to reboot your router every day is indicative of a problem.

Re: weird problem

I do, and I have never had to reboot any of my routers for the sake of it.
